Mayors Decoster & Vallo on shortlist “World Mayor Award”

February 8, 2021

Support Mayors François Decoster (Saint-Omer) and Matúš Vallo (Bratislava), shortlisted for the 2021 World Mayor Award.

The 2021 World Mayor Award wants to reward Mayors whose leadership during the Covid pandemic provided their communities with protection and assurance. To be shortlisted, mayors also had to show an awareness of the long-term implications of the pandemic. Returning to the ‘old normal’ should not be the aim. To protect communities from future natural or man-made disasters, cities must become stronger, fairer and greener. Both our members François Decoster and Matúš Vallo were nominated and made it to the shortlist with their leadership skills while acting at all times with compassion towards the most affected by Covid-19. Euractiv Slovakia already highlighted the nomination of Mayor Vallo.

Vote now for Mayors Decoster and Vallo

You can vote for Mayors Decoster & Vallo by emailing the City Mayors Foundation your reasons why they should win the 2021 World Mayor Prize. Write about their leadership during the Covid pandemic, achievements as mayor and vision for their city. Please insert Saint-Omer Mayor or Bratislava Mayor in the subject line and provide your name at the end of your testimonial. It can be your full name, first name or initials, and indicate where you live. Send it to saint.omer@worldmayor.com or bratislava@worldmayor.com. Testimonials, comments and votes are accepted until the end of April 2021.

For their shortlist, the World Cities Mayors Foundation selected 32 Mayors from 21 countries.
