Our Group decided to rename the ALDE political group in the European Committee of the Regions to ‘Renew Europe’.At the last ALDE-CoR Group meeting which took place on Wednesday 26 June, and following the decision of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament, our Group decided to rename the ALDE political group in the European Committee of the Regions to ‘Renew Europe’.
The new name shows that we are united with the Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament. Our President Bart Somers: “We need to rethink and renew Europe. We have to work with our sister group in the European Parliament to grow, to become a stronger positive voice in Europe”.
The new name was inspired by the ALDE Party slogan used throughout the European elections campaign by the seven lead candidates forming Team Europe.
Over the coming weeks, Renew Europe Secretariat will take the necessary steps to implement this decision.
