Register for our 2023 Summit of Young Elected Local and Regional Leaders

July 5, 2023

Building upon the accomplishments of its Liberal Mayors Summits, the Renew Europe Group within the European Committee of the Regions launched the Summit of Young Elected Local and Regional Leaders in 2017. In collaboration with Renew Europe pan-European youth movements such as YDE and LYMEC, this platform aims to establish a dynamic forum where young liberal democrat politicians at the local and regional levels can convene, engage in meaningful interactions, and exchange innovative ideas and exemplary approaches. You can see the highlights from the 2019 summit here.

The 2023 Summit will take place in Brussels at the European Committee of the Regions on 14-15 September. It is a two-day event, packed with information and networking opportunities, and a high-level summit among the participants. Travel and accommodation will be covered for selected participants on a first-come, first-served basis and to a certain limit.

The schedule starts with arrivals on early Thursday, September 14th, followed by an informal networking, and concluding with a dinner on the same day. The following day, Friday, September 15th, the event will continue at the European Committee of the Regions, featuring an interactive session, summit, and an exchange of practices on a topic selected by the participants.

Young (18-35) local and regional politicians with an elected mandate and having a responsibility either in government or in opposition and who belong to Renew Europe caucus youth movements are encouraged to apply. The language of the event is English. The project is aimed at local and regional liberal democrat politicians who have leadership experience, therefore it is important to indicate in the application form what other leadership positions you have in addition to the one you were elected. For example, an elected local councillor in Amsterdam should also hold additional leadership position either in government or in opposition such as: chair of a committee, deputy, spokesperson, delegated council representative, or even possibly a mayor, deputy etc. If it is not clear, you can always drop an email to office@lymec.eu

Deadline for applications 19 July.
You can apply via here.
